The Village Board recently passed a Resolution applauding the accomplishments of Fire Department Captain Raymond “Rusty” Grenier, who is retiring. A Berkeley resident for 25 years,
Grenier began his career as a firefighter on July 2, 1990 and was promoted to Captain on October 21, 2002. Congratulations Rusty on your retirement, best of luck in your future endeavors.

Congratulations to Fire Fighter Rich Hord on his recent promotion to the rank of Fire Lieutenant. Rich began his career with the Berkeley Fire Department on September 9, 1991.

Berkeley received a new Fire Engine from the W.S. Darley Company on November 30, 2005. This Engine will become the new "351." A special thanks goes out to all the guys who were part of the apparatus specification committee. Good job guys! The engine was put into service on January 1, 2006.

Congratulations to Tim Alund and Kevin Klincik on passing their Probationary period. Good job guys and good luck.

The Fire Department would like to welcome two new Probationary Firemen, Jim Lithas and Matt Holland.

Berkeley received a new Ambulance from the Medtec Ambulance Company. This vehicle will become the new "354."

Also effective January 1, 2007, all residences are required to have a carbon monoxide detector per a new Illinois state law. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the fire dept. at (708) 449-9444.
