Use of home elevators have increased manifold over the years. Next type is the traction or electric elevator. Its design makes it unsuitable for earthquake prone areas. A counterweight enables the cab to remain suspended in the shaft.

Last type of home elevator is the pneumatic lift elevator. This elevator can hold maximum two people.
